Old barns can't be replaced because they are in the flood plain, but they can be maintained ... that's the plan.
Today is "Annual Meeting" about now they are running a car up to new barn on it's own power (first O/H line was installed recently).
Still some track left to be laid (loop, etc.)

It had been suggested that one could possibly get around the floodplain issue by renovating half of an existing barn, then renovating the other half at a later date.

Result: an old barn with new poles holding it up.

Yes, they could put in new poles, but that wouldn't be an easy thing to do.
Maintenance to the old barns will continue because we need the inside space to store cars.
Also the everyday use cars are stored in the old barn area ... less walking for operators.
Many years ago a guy spearheaded an effort to raise the tracks a foot or so.

Looks like the museum and Muni (San Francisco) are doing an interesting swap. Shore Line gets an old Muni cable car; Muni gets two Red Arrow cars that will be restored to run on their E Embarcadero line.

This is another Shore Line Trolley Museum double feature and my last videos for the year. The first video is one of my first videos of the SLTM. It is of a short video of Montreal Trolley car 2001 departing Sprague station. The second video is of a ride from the barns to Short Beach on Brooklyn and Queens PCC 1001 trolley car, one of the earliest PCC trolley cars built. It was a nice ride on the PCC car, the car of course was single ended and had to be reversed to get back to the barns. A volunteer had to communicate to the operator from the back row of the car by walkie-talkie. PCC 1001 is undergoing repairs to fix the damage from Superstorm Sandy.

The is it for the year! More videos will be posted next year! Until then, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
