Approaching Eatontown at 5:00 in the pm. Looks like 16 Woodhaven & 1 tank, with a sinister looking boxcar halfway back...pics to follow.

And this ugly duckling....didn't realize until done processing the photo that it spells 'ALPHA' on the side; haven't had this bad of a railcar view in a long time......

A real beaut Chris!
I was contemplating on trying out your spot there, but wasn't sure how the shadows would be. Apparently they were just fine.

Here's my shot from the new W. Front St. bridge in Red Bank.

I'm curious on the tank car.
It goes to Brick Recycling, correct?
What's it hauling?
Does it go down empty and return full like the gons?

Thanks for the updates and the sharing of the photos today. Job well done! Time will tell if the train gets a re-crew and brought back to the yard tonight.

Train has a re-crew on duty tonight. I was told that they may not make it all the way back to Browns; we shall see what happens...

Ha, very cool, thanks for the infrared image, Tom! Nice shots from the past 2 weeks, Jason; the loaded tank car goes to Bel-Ray Company, a producer of high-end lubricants which is situated right next to Brick Recycling. The tank car is trans-loaded onto a 40ft tank trailer (probably takes 3 or 4 offloads to this 18-wheeler), which is then taken around the corner to the Bel-Ray plant for offloading to one of their storage tanks. I do not know what is in this car, but it is considered 'dangerous', thereby necessitating transport no closer than 6 cars from the head-end. Brick Recycling & Bel-Ray have an agreement where Bel-Ray can use the one track on Brick Recycling's 2-track siding for their inbound loads. Bel-Ray is right beside the Southern, like Brick Recycling, but does not have a siding into their plant.

Clocks change this weekend, so shadows should soon disappear, thankfully......will post when the crew rumbles by me in a few hours for those interested.

Just heard 5311's Haunting whistle blowing through Farmingdale at 4 am. Late (early)return tonight for sure.
That horn on 5311 has sounded like that for 10 years now

Train currently parked just south of Patterson Ave.
Crew walked off at 6:15 am and left the engines running.
They said the next crew would be in 4 hrs from that time.

Wait just a friggin' minute....wasn't it 60 degrees & sunny yesterday?! I will admit, however, that everything came together nicely today for a few shots of SA-31 playing in the snow......

My 2017 Christmas card shot.....

Also, thanks for the detailed information on the tank car. In this shot the tank car is only one away from the locomotives, but as you said it should be empty and so should be less dangerous.
