Alright, here's a question for the historians that I can't figure out.

Image
East Eighth Street by City of Boston Archives

The car is Type 4 #5434, active from 1914 to 1950. The picture is claimed to be on East Eighth Street in 1940.

However, the East 8th Street line (now the #11 bus) was bustituted in 1929, and never ran to Dudley. The line was also double tracked along East Eighth (but single-tracked for a few blocks of West 8th).

Anyone got a clue what's going on here?

According to 1936 BERy charts, there were no tracks on Eight St, East or West, by this time.

I don't know old cars like that very well. Do they tell us any thing ?

I think it's East Fourth Street, between Farragut Road and P Street.

That looks exactly like it. Thanks!
