is darth ready for the pending snowstorm?will it be possible to keep a update so we can see it in operation on the ronkonkoma greenport line?

Do they run it in 6" of snow?

The spreader was already brought out to KO in preparation by the RF1 crew back in November.

Any word on when darth will be working the mainline east of KO? Late tonight or early tomorrow morning?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

All major roads are banned for non-essential vehicles. So unless you're on a firetruck I don't see how you're going to get there.

Considering that the LIRR primarily no longer had means to "turn" a train or car by means of Wye or Turntable at many terminals, getting only 1 plow was a huge failure. They should have bough at Least 2 "darth" and "vader". This would permit them to place however many locomotives between the pair as neeeed and they can turn the consist the same way they turn passenger trains having a plow end on both sides.

Just because you open the line going east, it might not remain open going west!
And it also provides for Moves in the direction the 1 unit wasn't set up to run on a point to point operation.

Commandeered NYA power...

Not quite, NYA crews run those Gp's.

Why use NYA power for it? Can the MP15s not handle it?

LIRR retained the right of recall of any of the power turned over the NY&A for freight ops.
LIRR recalled the 2 GP38-2's for plow duty

2 MP15ac's with Vader bracketed between them eastbound through Deer Park this morning.

They would have been better off with a plow, and not a spreader. With the all high platforms, close clearances and third rail, there are few places they can actually use the "wings" on it.
