What sort of plows (if any) does SEPTA have for trolley routes 101/102, and for that matter the Norristown line? Up here, the MBTA retired its traditional trolley plows ages ago and has relied on unpowered plow sleds that are pushed by standard LRVs. They proved hopelessly inadequate when we got a series of two-foot storms last winter and some lines had to be slowly dug out by front-end loaders.

I was about to ask the same question. Walked up to St David's station yesterday and it barely looked like trains had been through there. I surely hope tomorrow morning doesn't turn into a mess considering the NHSL probably won't operate beyond Bryn Mawr like what usually happens after a storm.

At a press conference today (I think it was before noon, I saw it on channel 3 or 10) Jeff Knueppel said they have a jet engine to clear the NHSL. I haven't seen or heard any news about it or regional rail. Some of the priority bus routes have resumed operation this afternoon.

Given the age of the S-IVs and the old door issues with the S-Vs, I wonder how many vehicles will be operational come Monday after not being used since Friday evening?

Is there a procedure SEPTA uses to keep trains "fresh" (not sure if there's a better term to use) in the event that cars are outside unused for over 48 hours?

I don't know if they were trying to keep the lines clear by running cars, but DE 110 jumped the tracks at Springfield Rd and Woodlawn Ave (just after clearing the RR overpass) on Saturday. Looks like it cracked a telephone pole. Photo credit to Jim Phillips, presumably from Phillips Enterprises of Aldan, in front of which this happened.

Edit: there is a closer picture of this in the link rdgrailfan posted above.

It's certainly looking like a pretty rough morning, with trains short cars and at least one push-pull not waking up. From Train View, which actually looks better now than it did an hour ago:

General Announcement: Regional Rail trains are experiencing delays up to 30 minutes due to weather-related issues.
Chestnut Hill West: Train #818 to Fox Chase is canceled. Next train to Center City is #9820 scheduled to depart 8:11AM.
Media/Elwyn: Train #4311 to Media will operate 2 cars short, passengers may experience overcrowding.
Paoli/Thorndale: Service is canceled between Malvern and Thorndale due to Amtrak switch problems. Train #9530 to Center City will express from Strafford to 30th Street due to overcrowding.
Trenton: Train #726 to Chestnut Hill East will operate 2 cars short, passengers may experience overcrowding.
Warminster: Train #4213 to Newark will operate 2 cars short, passengers may experience overcrowding.
Wilmington/Newark: Train #9212 to Center City is canceled due to equipment problems.

Was pleasantly surprised to have my Ivy Ridge train depart on time and was only 13 minutes late to 30th. IMHO, the City of Philadelphia and Septa did a great job cleaning things up after the blizzard.

"SEPTA officials say several of its regional rail services are limited or canceled, due to manpower issues.

The announcement comes after SEPTA said it was making headway in the aftermath of the storm, with most bus routes back on the road and its Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines running on or close to schedule."
