Yup someone actually thought this was a worthy enough paint scheme.. Due for delivery in late October 2016:

Oddly enough the small CDOT logo doesn't exactly look like a "patch job" and there's no special ALCO smoke unit. So not exactly prototypical :-P

There actually have been quite a few "SLE" models over the years. MTH has put out Premier and Railking F-3s and Gennies, Atlas has offered HO GP38s and Atlas O has offered O gauge Comet coaches and cabs for MNRR/CDOT along with 1 or 2 "SLE" cars with the red lettering underneath the window band; I think "Harriet Beecher Stowe" might have been one of them.

For some reason MTH has not run NH/CDOT Amfleets. And they did NJT and LIRR ones 10+ years ago. And Rapido Trains hasn't done any FL9s with the ConnDOT number boards for their current production run.

(And sightly off topic, but) Now with Lionel re-running the MNRR M-7 set as a 3 car train with a (fictional) M-7 "C" car who knows if an M-8 set is in the pipeline ;-) Someone from Lionel several years back said that if the M-7 set did well they would consider doing the M-8s.

Walthers did a run of CDOT Shoreliners in HO as well as a run of what were supposed to be VRE MAFERSA cars.. How long did it take for CDOT to repaint those cars.

Forgot about those! Goodness that was ages ago when they did the MNR/CDOT cars. The "faux Mafersa" VRE cars actually didn't look half bad even with the fake fluted siding. And they had the Horizon/Superliner trucks compared to those terrible riding commuter trucks (which have since been reworked with the newly re-tooled Amfleets).

I think took about a year and a half to get all 33 cars rehabbed and repainted.

Athearn did a "stand in" using the P40 body shell of MN's P32dm's as shipped from GE Erie in Silver/Blue stripe scheme.
This was the 1st run with the coupler boxes molded into the underframe.
