The council has tabled a resolution supporting a proposed light rail line proposed by Rep. Bill Pascrell that will include a line from Hawthorne to Hackensack.

At the Nov. 16 meeting, the council tabled the resolution for the second time after expressing concerns over taxpayers funding the project and how it will benefit the borough.

Last month, Rep. Bill Pascrell announced the formation of the North Jersey Rail Coalition (NJRL). The NJRC is advocating to restart the dormant New Jersey Transit project to reintroduce passenger rail service on the New York Susquehanna & Western right of way traversing Passaic, Bergen and Hudson counties.
