Uniq. Eqpmt Sightings: Private Varnish (PV's), Charters, etc

There are Superliners sitting in Penn Coach Yard at 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. I know that they are common Amtrak equipment, but it is unique to see them in the Northeast. How did they get the Superliners to 30th Street, and what are they using them for here?

There is a report at another topic, that the cars (4 Sleepers, Diner 370XX, T Dorm) have been placed there to billet Mechanical Department staff that they have brought in from elsewhere on the System to augment those at Philadelphia to handle additional cars there account the Papal visit.

So, now we can have through cars between Philadelphia and Chicago on the Pennsylvanian and the Capitol Limited, without needing to mix different kinds of cars at Pittsburgh.

Save, of course Mr. Boylan, getting them into 30th St. under normal servece conditions.

0530 departure from Louisville KY on October 1st, with a Norfolk Southern helper locomotive added to get the 20 car train over a 2.8% grade.

Beach Grove and 10021 at CUS 10/1/2015 on track 26 in Phase III with the old logo on the white stripe at the observation end. Couldn't see too much detail because I was 3 platforms away. Lookin' good.

Anybody else get to see the very interesting little train on Wednesday? 643 quit on 98 just west of Edison, NJ. An inspection train, with 628 on the point (and possibly test train for 628? I know up til recently it was out of service after it cooked its transformer awhile back on 172) was not far behind it, they ran it around 98, and then backed it down to the train.. So you had 628 pulling the three cars of the inspection train, the dead 643 sandwiched in the middle, and 98 all at the same time.

I assume the problem with 643 on Wednesday wasn't too serious, because it worked train 643 on Thursday.

on a Balloon Fiesta charter,will return to Chicago on #4(03) tomorrow.

This Charter was under the Pullman Journeys banner,and will be repeated next year,(was sold out this year)
The weather went wet after the morning's Mass Ascension
Railrunner(NMRX) may have provided connecting service to the Fiesta site.

Private car DOVER HARBOR arrived into Sunnyside yard this afternoon on train #20 the Crescent, it will be heading up on train #69 tomorrow morning along with the New York Central BUDD built lightweight Tavern Lounge car #43. The 2 private cars will be heading back to New York this Tuesday October 6 evening.

Train 51 (11) has a Viewliner sleeper, heritage diner 8550 and track inspection car AMERICAN VIEW trailing the normal consist of 1 locomotive and 7 cars.

Private cars COLLINSVILLE INN and FRANKLIN INN on train 79 (11) at ALX, presumed enroute to CLT.

Private cars ALEXANDER HAMILTON, BERLIN, DEARING and MORRIS COUNTY parked at WAS. They will be heading to HUN later this week, probably on train 51 (14), leased for use on the four New River Train excursions.
