Believe it or not, Mr. UPRR, my last assingment was a location where the TM was also packing, the terminal manager, as well as most guys on the night jobs. I would rather lose my job, than my life. (I don't want to be the poor soul that brings a pocket-knife, to a gunfight!!!) My state allows me to carry, and now, thanks to a recent change in the law, no longer requires me to retreat, from a serious/armed threat. My rulebook also says "no-no", but my boss says "you'd better". It's not flashed, and I have never had occasion to pull it (thank God), but the peace of mind knowing I am "protected", allows me to put all of my attention to the task at hand, not wondering about who might come through the cab door, in the middle of the night. On the SP, between Houston and Brownsville, almost every guy had something in his boot, or belt. Just like safety glasses and hearing protection, I consider it to be "breathing protection". I would rather be "judged by twelve, than carried by six", so to speak. Regards..
