Hi Everyone,

I got called for a pre employment/medical for Staten Island Railway Conductor. My question is what kind of outfit is SIR to work for? It seems to be different from the NYCTA wherein they are not 'civil service' [they emphasized this on the job notice], and I was wondering since SIR is not civil service are you stuck in a 'craft type' system or do they have promotional opportunities like the NYCTA has via exams? Don't get me wrong, I will gladly accept the position if offered [especially in this economy] but just wanted to know if they promoted via exam say for example Tower/Dispatcher or Locomotive Engineer etc. or otherwise.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
