I would like to leave this only for the railroad employees or retirees among us to post railroad anecdotes. Of course, responces are (amost) always welcome. And of course, not limited to LIRR as I really have no LIRR anecdotes other then my father, a six pack of beer and a diesel train that ran out of fuel one day...
I will start.
While working for the NYSW at Little Ferry ( Ridgefield Park) round house, sometime around July, 1987, the foreman at the Binghampton shop called to have us send supplies on the next stack train up so they could do some 92 day locomotive inspections.
We sent them a box of penciles.
