you can't. only way is to look at the car numbers:

Current roster: A cars are cab cars while C cars are intermediate cars with conductor controls only (no cab).

PA1: 100-151 ("C" cars), 600-709 ("A" cars)
PA2: 152-181 ("C" cars), 710-723("A" cars)
PA3: 724-769 ("A cars" only)

FR: How long do you think the PA1,2 and 3 cars have left before the PATH has enough PA-5 cars to retire all of them?
Will the Kawasaki PA-4s be the last to be retired as I suspect? MACTRAXX

at the rate kawasaki's delivering these things, i think we have till the end of 2010 for the PA1-3's and the PA-4's by the end 2011. might be quicker by up to half a year if kawasaki speeds up delivery.

The last PA4s made it to September 2011, the PA1s into mid-summer 2011 and the PA2/PA3s gone by spring.
