How is the bridge coming along? I have not heard or seen any updated photo's in some time. Is there somewhere to get up to date photo's? Used to be able to watch the work zone cam, but that got shut off for some I guess. It has been a pretty easy winter so far here in NW PA. Sure would like to know how it is going and see some recent photo's?

Thanks

Don't know if you're a member of either trainorders.com or facebook but here are URLs to the same photo recently taken by Doug Ellison of a couple of approach spans that NS has installed on piers:

Apparently construction of the arch span has also started.

Outstanding video. I don't think I can compete with that.

I have always wanted to fly down along the river but I assumed that somebody would be waiting for me upon my arrival. Did you need to get a special permit to operate with the gorge/park? Just curious. I'm not law enforcement .

I should have clarified - I didn't make the video, nor did I do any flying. This was a news item on WHEC-TV's web site and I just reposted the video directly from Youtube.

SST - the piloting was done by one of the "regular" hot air balloon companies in the area. They offer balloon rides over the park when the weather is favorable.

By the way, I knew a Air Force reserve pilot out of the Niagara Falls air base who reported that he'd flown a C-130 down the gorge a time or two. Whether it's legal or not is another matter.

Any pilot aboard the forum will be able to tell you that there is very little that is actually "illegal" when it comes to flying in airspace that is not strictly controlled.

There are broad rules that one must operate the aircraft safely, however.

I fly quite a lot, but I am not one of the pilots who can quote FAA rules verbatim, hence the short explanation. I would imagine there is more than one pilot aboard the forum who can provide a much more detailed explanation if needs be.

Very cool. From this and other recent videos posted here, it seems fortunately that the drought and low water flow from last year is over.

No drought in NYS currently:

No burning of brush until May 14:
