I'm no NYC expert, but I thought that this is worth mentioning. Back in 2000, I saw a jade green gon roll by me on CP's 556 through Lehighton. It had MILW reporting marks, and a NYC logo just barely visible. Since the Milwaukee is now part of CP, maybe this car is used for MOW, since it really looked bad. But it was out there as of 4 years ago.

Happy hunting.

As information. There never was a New York Central Color Standard called Jade Green. There was Century Green, Pacemaker Green, Pullman Green and DuPont Green. When Penn Central came into being the existing supplies of Century Green and Tuscan Red were used up before the new color Deep Water Green was applied to freight cars.

the 1960's vintage Pullman-Standard third-rail MU's are still in service on Metro-North... they will most likely be out of service by the end of summer as MN takes delivery of new equipment.

Here is a shot of a train of ACMU's on the Harlem Line at Croton Falls, on a fan trip from 1998.

Well, Ramcat, I stand enlightened. As I honestly don't know the proper term for what I saw, I'll just add this. The Central logo on the gon was the white oval/black 'belt' on a green body.

That's all for now.

On May 8, I saw this caboose on the Westshore Branch in Henrietta, NY. The caboose clearly has the letters NYC on it.

NYC reporting marks on Conrail equipment does not mean that was a former NYC car. That is how CSX marks its half of former Conrail property. The NS-owned stuff is marked PRR.

There are more than a few former NYC passenger cars still in active service today in 2004.

Amtrak's Heritage Fleet includes a few Budd built NYC diners. They rotate thru assignments on the Lake Shore Ltd, Crescent, Silver Meteor and Silver Star.

NYC passenger cars are represented among the ranks of privately owned cars. Some are currently certified for main line operation; others are on shortlines. Here are a few that come to mind.

Mr. FGLK,

Welcome to Railroad.net. I am Co-Moderator of the New York Central forum as well as moderator of a few other forums here. I try to only use my moderator functions only when I absolutely have to. I like to let people "do their thing" for the most part. However, I have watched your posts carefully over the last few days and I have to say, they kind of invite controversy a tad bit. I am asking nicely, when you type your posts, will you please try to clean up your spelling a little? Before you ask, no I am not an English teacher or Professor or an Administrative Dean. Nor am I trying to start a war. Thank you in advance.....

Anybody know what ever happened to that NYCS Steam engine (corrected by 6017) that sat next to the Amtrak Station in Utica?? ???

If the engine you mean O-6-O NYC 6721 B-11k it is still next to
Utica union station. I don't quite know what you mean "what ever
happened to it".

While I admit it's hard for me to have empathy for your situation, I accept it as such and will never again mention it.
