Thanks to the satellite images on local.live.com, I was able to view the entire property of NRE in Silvis, and I found the E-8 described below.

In these 2 links, you'll notice that the entire roof of the E-unit has been removed and all engine room components are missing. What I need to know now is what became of this unit after these pictures. Was it cut up? Are the hollowed out remains still intact and on the property? Someone please get me pictures or info if possible!

*ORIGINAL POST*
Calling all Illinois railfans! Back in the early 90's, NJT E8 #4267 was supposedly sent to NRE in Silvis as a trade-in. I've only ever read one account of it's whereabouts as being part of a consist somewhere near Chicago. Since then, nothing! No sightings. No pictures. Its almost as if it dropped off the face of the earth. I've only ever seen pictures of Metra and BN E-units in Silvis. Never NJT 4267.

NJT 4267 was painted midnight blue, which had faded to something that looked dark gray, with a platinum mist band through the center which came to a V on the nose. The two colors are separated by a thin red stripe.

NJT 4267 is former PRR 5791A. It will have the PRR-characteristic nose mounted lift rings. This unit was also rebuilt by ICG Paducah in 1978 and has no nose door and all-welded side panels, unlike the separate rivetted panels on a conventional E-unit.

If anyone knows the fate or location of this unit, and can prove it with pictures, I'd be truly grateful.

Well Folks,

Its been 2 years and 5 months since my original post above.

As you can plainly see, no one has replied.

Allow me to put the challenge back out there: Any information leading to the confirmation of her existence would be appreciated.
