Omaha, Neb., May 08, 2012- Military Times EDGE named Union Pacific Railroad among the 40 Best for Vets 2012 Employers. Union Pacific ranked No. 7 on the list.
"Union Pacific is honored to be named a Best for Vets Employer and recognizes the importance of hiring veterans and military reserve personnel," said Barb Schaefer, Union Pacific senior vice president - Human Resources. "We find that veterans have a strong work ethic, which fits in well with the railroad's 24/7 operations, and have the knowledge and leadership skills to be successful at Union Pacific."
Best for Vets selected Union Pacific based on recruiting, mentoring, on-the-job training and spouse employment. Approximately 19 percent of Union Pacific's nearly 4,500 hires in 2011 were veterans.
