An old HEADLIGHT from the NYC Historical Society had several photos of Lyons NY in 1914. A couple questions:

1. One photo appears to show a yard south of the NYC main line, west of the west leg of the wye to the Fall Brook. I believe the photo to be mislabeled as it says it is the north end of the South Yard. Was there such a thing as the West Yard?

2. There is a nice photo of the south end of the South Yard, taken from the West Shore overpass. This was a large yard, looks like 20 to 25 tracks. Anyone know exactly how many? Does anyone have track charts showing the numbering used? Most tracks are grouped in twos, with a switch off the lead then an inside switch to split into the two tracks. But the track closest to the main does not fit that pattern, and I wondered if it was a runner or such.

3. There are a couple tracks which appear to be hoppers and gons, which would be coal traffic. But there are quite a few box cars visible so they must have had a significant amount of non-coal traffic as well.

4. There was a roundhouse there as well, near the NYC main. Was this only for Fall Brook trains working southward, or did main line trains originate at Lyons as well?
