When I was about 10 years old I remember riding the doodlebug from Trenton to Manasquan. We were approaching the wye heading east. I was sitting on the left row of seats and passed a active tower on the left side of the train.
The guys were leaning out the top windows of the tower waving to us as we passed. Does anyone know where that tower was located? Are there any remains of it left? Its a shame but the way industry is going in this country...in another 50 years those lines( Camden and Amboy, Dayton branch and f and J will just be memories.

I lived in Neptune City in those days, right next to the NY&LB by the Sylvania Ave wooden bridge, and the Doodlebug passed twice a day. I always wanted to ride it to Trenton, and my folks promised me that some day we would, but it never happened and the service ended.I'll forever remember the Trenton-bound end of that thing and its "gurgly" horn. It sounded like it had water in it.
