Ethiopia-Djibuti privatised

This is part of an interesting trend. I think the Kenya-Uganda line has already been privatised.

A Mozambican line has been also. It too is run by a South African company.

Wasn't the Ethopian line in pretty sad shape a number of years back (or even blocked comletely during the Eritrean war?)

I have read an account of a journey on part of the line in Ethiopia. (Paul Theroux, I think) Yes, it seems to have been in a bad way. The main thing is to get it to carry more freight. Whether anything will be done for passenger services is probably a secondary consideration.
