How did the EL and PRR lines between Sharon, PA and New Castle, PA compete? Did one move more traffic than the other or have certain operational advantages or more online traffic? Were there any "through" movements on either line? Did things change after the PC merger?

How did the Conrail merger affect these lines? Which one was ripped out first? What were the approximate dates of removal? Does it really make more sense to run via Youngstown, OH between Sharon and New Castle? Of course, I imagine much of the original traffic base is long gone.
