As is the norm every few years, CSX is replacing the "diamonds" in Deshler and Galatea, OH, and probably in several other locations on the Willard/Garrett subs. The new diamonds are currently laid alongside the told, still active ones, along with several pieces of prefab track panels to tie them into the "normal" track. I have only seem pictures, and have not been able to discern the manufacturers of these diamonds. Therefore, I have a few questions. 1: How many different companies make the actual "diamond" piece, and where are they located? 2:Do the same companies also make the prefab "approach" track panels that lead up to the diamonds? If not, who does make them? The new approach sections and diamonds are quite different from most that I have seen. These new ones use pandrol clips and screw spikes instead of regular spikes, and the way that the approach sections bolt to the diamond itself is quite different than most. Is this the new standard?
Here is one approach section: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/u ... hoto_3.JPG
And the actual crossing: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/u ... hoto_4.JPG
Thank you
