CSX "ES40DC"

I've recently come across some references from October 2009-ish related to CSX derating the entire ES44DC fleet to 4000 hp. I haven't been able to find much additional information. Was it for fuel consumption, or reliability - or both? It's hard to believe that fuel consumption would be an issue when that's supposed to be one of the selling points of the GEVO.

the ES44DC's as well as 9000 series C44-9W's are all being derated to 4000hp. It is simply a fuel savings measure. None of the AC traction units are affected by this and will remain at the factory delivered horsepower rating.

Some are being repainted also......caught one over the weekend in Worcester,MA wearing fresh paint.
