How do you get a good light in a cloudy day shot? I have shot on days when the clouds cover the whole sky but it is still bright out. But the trains look bland. It is especially hard to shoot AMT since their engines are grey. Any tips?

The only two viable options on cloudy days are:

1. Pick locations that you can compose a shot without including the sky
2. Use various masking / HDR / pseudo-HDR techniques using editing software to expose the sky apart from the ground
