all trains are stopped penidng track inspections . one coal train has derailed but is still upright .
i expect they will want to use a milk tanker train to take water to Christchurch , once track is opened .

just heard 200 000 litres of water has been delivered to Christchurch by rail , so the southern railway is open at least . apart from water theres probably not alot rail can deliver from the south , as its pretty sparesly populated . maybe portaloos form dunedin , most would go by road i expect . It is the rail link to the north island that will be more useful for moving bulk supplies in .
