CHESWOLD, Del. (AP) - October 22, 2007 - A New Castle man is out of the hospital after a collision between his car and a freight train south of Cheswold.

It happened Saturday when police say 38-year-old Darryl Sudler tried to beat the Norfolk Southern train at a railroad crossing.

The train hit Sudler's car, sending it into a light pole.

Sudler was airlifted to Christiana Hospital, but was later released.

Police say he's charged with driving on a suspended license and disregarding a railroad crossing signal.

The train was pulling 100 empty coal cars
