Hi

Yesterday I received a conditional offer of employment as a signal apprentice. Was shocked to get picked for one, Im 46 still in good shape and there were some experienced railroaders applying. They are already doing background check and take physical next week.
My question is whats the next couple of years going to be like? At the interview they gave me the job description and what to expect. What Im wanting I guess is to hear from any signal men and there experiences. I know that I will be low man on totem pole and there is a lot of manuel labor and shoveling. No big deal, done heat and air and electrical work the last 19 years. Any info, both good and bad, would be appreciated. Thanks
