Metro North Railroad is in the process of taking the last vestages of the New York Central Railroad out of service. The 1100's, the remnants of the 4600 and 4700 series cars are soon to be history and NO museum has opted to acquire any of these cars. They are apparently being sold to some railcar dealer in Pennsylvania lock, stock and barrel. What a shame. Tons of Pennsylvania RR equipment around but hardly anything left of the New York Central and when these cars are gone, the New York Central is gone with it. What a sad commentary. If I had money, I would buy one and store it on my property. The North White Plains yard where many of these cars are stored in is only about a mile from my home.
