Any idea where abouts South Plainfield? There is also an LV boxcar being used by a business up in Dover.

That LV box car is within the fenced property of Nischwitz & Co located at 223 Front St in South Plainfield. They're an animal feed and farm supplier. According to a certain organization's website, they own it................. but don't ask me how that could be the case. I've heard that its a bit of an assumption on their part. Nischwitz uses it for storage.

While the yard is not fenced, it is not open to the public, and especially so the transload facility on the passenger station side is strictly off limits. The railroad is railfan friendly, however, and if one of the members of the Black River Railroad Historical Trust happens to be there and has the time, you may be able to be escorted to the south end of the yard for photography. None of the equipment on the BR&W or its Bel Del affiliate is abandoned.

The LV boxcar is one of the two map cars the Valley painted up.

The NJT loco is not accessible without trespassing. Generally Saturdays during the day, folks are there working on the steam engine (No. 60) or other restoration projects. We are currently in between the corn maze and Santa/North Pole Express passenger train season so no passenger trains will run until November 26th, both day and night trains that day. I'm conductor on the night North Pole Express that day and will be at Ringoes somewhere around 2:30 p.m. and brakeman the next day for the NPX, Saturday November 27th also I should get there around 2:30 p.m.

The only LV boxcars in Dover that I know of are used along with a Conrail boxcar by NJT MOW Forces.

I recall an old Amtrak car visible if you were in the right lane of I-78 West between the GSP and where you have to turnaround to get on I-78 West from the GSP.

kaback, you mean the 40ft boxcar that is right behind the fence where the LV line crosses front st/ metuchen rd? i didn't know that was an LV box.

there's also a very much abandoned boxcar along the now defunct millstone branch. the frame and wheels are gone and it's just sitting on the dirt rusting away

It has since been gone, likely removed when the area was cleared about three years ago. It sat on a old LV spur.

Other than meeting days, and passenger train operating days, there is no guarantee that anyone will be there. However, there are active several equipment restoration projects, and almost every Saturday and often Sundays someone is working on the CNJ coach, both baggage cars, the LV112, the PRR Doodlebug, and so forth.

There's an old PRR box car on an old siding in Rahway by where the old North Rahway train station was. At this point it has been painted over so the Keystones are no longer visable.

Flemington crane at the outlets
Lambertville, there are three
East Hanover- on a siding

What about the old one off I95 and RT78 by the Tuscon milk plant. It was Amtrak?

Let me give you the history on this. About 25 or 30 years ago an entrpraneur decided that building a resturant in the Boonton Rail Station along with a mini mall along the tracks would be a good idea. It was supposed to be a restaurant and small shopping complex, things like gift shops and the like. He brought in those rail cars that you see in the picture, opened the resturant and rented them to small businesses . This was back in the 1980's and the restaurant was open in the station at that time. I do not believe that the project was successful for very long as those cars have been abandoned for quite a while.
