1940's Helium Rail Car for Tillamook Air Museum

Hello Everyone, I'm Jeremy Rice the Volunteer Coordinator with the Tillamook Air Museum in Tillamook, Oregon, we are housed in the worlds oldest open span wooden hangar in the world that is accessible to the public. It use to be the Naval Air Station Tillamook from 1942 to 1948 which housed the Navy's Lighter Than Air K-Class Blimps during WWII, We are looking to see If we could locate a 1940's era Helium Rail Car that we might be able to acquire to put on display here in our Museum as that is how the Helium arrived at the Base. If Anyone know of where we might be able to find one please let me know and I will do some foot work to see if we might be able to get it. Thank You for your time on this if you can help us out.

The last known Helium Rail cars were at the Helium plant at Amarillo Tx,believe all were scrapped on site at Amarillo.

Some cars still exist. It looks like the Amarillo Railroad Museum and Gold Coast Railroad Museum have helium cars. Others were used for stationary storage and may be scrapped- one at Fermilab for example, and some may have gone to the Space X outfit around 2012.

Necropost, but you MAAAY be in luck. As of 2014 (https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index ... ic=36277.0, a couple Helium Cars were stored by SpaceX in California and Cape Canaveral, and as of April 2017 a couple were still at SLC-40!
