I would hold the celebration for a while. This sale is not final and is contingent on a whole lot of things not the least of which is approval by the NJ Board of Public Utilities. BPU approval is not certain with several influential environmental groups steadfastly opposed to the sale and calling for the closing of the plant. It will be six months or so before the fate of the plant and the BEES is known for sure.

Looks like the negotiations and hearings regarding the sale of the plant are continuing, with the prospective buyer promising to make required environmental upgrades. Let's hope it continues to move forward.

Looks like coal on the Bees still has the green light! (well, metaphorically speaking, at least)

This is great to hear...I truly believe the life of that line south of Winslow depends entirely upon this power plant...and to lose that would mean we'd lose a GIANT chunk of railroad in South Jersey.

Glad to hear it's not going anywhere for now.

Thanks for keeping us posted on this...I'm somewhat out of the loop with South Jersey stuff after relocating here to FL, but I"m soon to be back in that loop...

The article did not mention any emission control updates to the plant, which I suppose will be necessary at some point (especially in this current heighten environment awareness period). I wonder what updates can and will be made, or is the planned operation 'short-term' (meaning 10-15 years) only?

The Press of AC article from last October stated that the necessary upgrades would be completed.
