69th Street Terminal was a complete mess today due to a gas leak in the area. They were shuttling 101/102 riders out to Landsdowne Ave from the North Platform, but I ended up waiting almost an hour for them to turn a trolley and bring it back out, having seen a half dozen go by towards 69th Stt. Anyone have any more information or horror stories? Outside of 69th St., where officials seemed reasonably helpful, SEPTA's employees seemed not to have a clue. There was nobody official at Lansdowne (just one trolley driver who was helping the shuttle bus turn around and telling people to wait patiently before heading towards 69th to turn his trolley) and drivers of both buses and trolleys were generally unhelpful and saying that 'trolleys are running' but not knowing more. One would think they could have sent a supervisor out to keep folks orderly and answer questions.

That's par for the course at Red Arrow. The few white-shirts who work at 69 St are, for the most part, unhelpful. In fairness to the operators, they were just as much in the dark as the riders, which is also par for the course.

For example, when West Chester closes both Market and Gay streets for the Halloween and Christmas parades, somehow Red Arrow drivers (104 and 119) have no idea where they're going (ie. they're not getting a detour routing from the control center), while Frontier operators (92 bus) are given detour instructions via their CARD system panel (which sends text messages in addition to being a traditional radio).
