This is a pretty straightforward question...Will Amtrak be running any extra services or extra trains or even any alternate schedules around Christmas this year such as they did around Thanksgiving?

nope (as far as I know) they are actually running weekend service (on the nec) on thursday.
Pulling this back up... and related to the Thanksgiving schedules they did in 2018 (man did I dredge up an old thread, ten years since last post), I have to wonder...

Exactly. MARC's been moving to double-level cars for some time, with the MARC III and MARC IV's. The MARC IIA's are being rebuilt or repurposed as bike cars. The MARC IIB's are still active.
Train 158 today ran with an Acela Consist.
That might have been an equipment staging move by using a scheduled train.
