Former Ulster County Legislator John Parete has recaptured the seat in District 22, according to the county Board of Elections.Article goes on to explain one more race is to be counted where a Dem held a 28 vote advantage on election day. Depending on who wins there either side could have a 12-11 majority. Also has some comments from Nolan why she thinks she lost. Good riddance.
That means the outcome of a single close race — the one in District 4 — will decide which party controls the 23-member lawmaking body next year.
Parete, a Boiceville Democrat who ran on the Republican line, led incumbent Democrat Kathy Nolan by 21 votes once all absentee ballots were counted Tuesday. (Parete led by 43 votes at the end of Election Day.)
