Safe to say, Mr. BR&P, we are addressing a "held from service" followed by a "discipline of dismissal assessed" situation. But watch that Motorman simply "get 60 days". Indeed, the consequences could make a whole separate (and lengthy) discussion. Two sentences fro...

"I told you to stop and hold". I realize transit is a "different world" from freight but let's look at this through freight eyes. We have a cut of 5 cars to be shoved, with the engine the 6th piece back. Assuming they have track authority, an employee on the lead car would confi...

Now THAT'S a vital part of the story. Hopefully the reason will be made public as the investigation continues.

I admit I know very little about the subway equipment, coming from a freight background upstate. But I don't understand was went wrong with the disabled train. Why does just pulling an emergency cord disable the train? After it comes to a stop, can't the emergency valves be closed or reset again to ...

Ernie, congrats to all involved! Sounds like great news and great progress. No doubt a lot of time and effort went into that, pats on the back to those who helped make it happen. :-D

There have been other threads on the Peanut including discussion of gypsum mining and maps of some of the spurs. I'd suggest using the "Advanced search" feature putting in various words relevant to your needs. Don't be afraid to poke through threads which start out about a different part o...

I have not been keeping up on things down that way, didn't know the power plant had shut down. The "War On coal" sure creates a lot of collateral damage. :( I have no official info, just my own speculation. But it takes a lot of $$ to maintain rail lines over time. I'm not aware of any sig...

Noah, welcome to the forum! :-D The caboose in question was originally Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh 289, built in 1923. It was renumbered B&O C2640 in 1934 and spent almost its whole working life on the former Buffalo & Susquehanna lines out of Galeton PA. In 1955 the Wellsville Addiso...

And 2 years later, I must offer a correction to my post above. I'm told there is a photo of Facebook of G&W 5, a 4-wheel caboose. That caboose is of very obvious BR&P heritage. I got my information from old BR&P records and they showed BR&P 11 became G&W 6. So we have 2 possibili...

A bigger question to me is what's powering the trolley?

I'm guessing that back about 1915 when they made the postcard, someone used Photoshop to take out the poles and lines?
