Hello all....Sorry (again) I've been aways so long however this story just landed in my lap yesterday and I was enticed to see if it made it to railroad.net which I was sure it would have. Now frankly this upsets me to no ends that the TSA has the audacity to "set up shop" as seen in the v...

Agreed Mr. Norman that the NS line is practically non essential to the freights or NS would not be willing to "dump" it off to the state of MI, My question to all still remains what does NS receive from downgrading the current track speed indefinitely? Is this a negotiation tactic brought ...

1 step forward and 2 steps back... I agree this is quite surprising As an article I read states that the line will be slow ordered indefinitely "we have no plans to lift the speed restrictions, which will be there for the foreseeable future." NS spokesperson states. Amtrak says they don't ...

Just shifting this thread a little south, I happen to run across this article last night. It seems 110mph running will soon be the normal for IL, which I believe is a step in the right direction. However there are some opposition where residents want to condense track in Springfield literally taking...

Historically, Amtrak hasn't bought abandoned corridors in the past, why should they start doing so now? Let the State of New York buy the corridor is they wish, like every other State that has done so. I can say your 50% right with your opinion on this one, however historically If at the creation o...

Via Rails cameras are mounted a tad bit higher than the " white thing" in the pic on 6444, here's one for you of 6433 with the camera installed and the white thing just below it.

I always loved the pedway under Chicago, even though I can count the amount of times Ive taken it with my fingers. however there is one connection to the pedway I wish was possible, a fully underground connection to Union station, too bad the river is in the way. Also if possible one to OTC and Lasa...

The two key facts that should have been caught on camera are the exact signal indications visible to the crew and the positioning of the switches.. Justalurker we agree on something, however too all those who were wondering if a camera was equipped even though VIA has said that the rebuilds will re...

ApproachMedium why dont you just run a simple speed test and post your findings I think we all would like to see what speeds you were referring to on your Verizon 3g vs. in train WIFI. I easily pull 4.5 mbps in some remote but capable Tmobile 3G areas much higher in 4G areas . PS: just so you under ...

Condolences to all, A tragedy that can not be undone but can be learned from to prevent this from happening in the future. I've ridden that part of the corridor more times than I can remember and I must say VIA does cross at some pretty high speeds in that location and do so safely every day. The F4...

I hear your concerns Mr. Norman and I would just like to point out during the 2nd Bush years we also lost New Orleans to Florida for the sunset limited and we lost my favorite which I rode every other month the International. With a Republican in office I agree they would not dare get rid of Amtrak ...

I don't see a problem with one car shuttles many other railroads do it on a day to day basis around the world. However 2 cars does make for a nice safety fall back ( say in the winter months) however now you do have to add in the extra maintenance cost of operating another car even if its run dark. ...
