I remember that something used to stop in Suffolk, in terms of passenger rail. Yes I know that the station still stands and its present location is centrally located. Not only would it serve the City of Suffolk. It would serve other nearby cities west of the James River like Smithfield and even some...

It's probably because of CSX is why your train was dragging. It's been almost 13 years since I last took a train to NPN-this was in May of 2009. Btw Amtrak should look into adding a station between Norfolk and Petersburg-maybe somewhere in Suffolk. Once the train passes Suffolk when heading west, th...

Yes, NPN station is moving well north of the present location. There are advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage is that it will be far away from Downtown NPN unlike where the present station is. New station will be located 9 miles up the road from the current NPN Depot. It seems that there a...

Re: RMNE to Host C&O # 2716

Something tells me that the 2716 will travel on MNR’s Waterbury Line to get to Thomaston. I’m not sure if CDOT which owns the right of way of the WBL will want the steam engine to travel under its own power.

Charlotte’s Station won’t be across from the freight yard forever. In a few more years, it’s supposed to move to the Uptown Business District.

This is great news and I will do what I can to attend this amazing event!! When it's spending time in the Thomaston area, it will be interesting to see the 2716 power the excursions along the Naugatuck River. What would be nice if when they run these excursions, maybe they could run all the way to t...

I was thinking that if in any event that any of the Farewell Excursions to the R32s get cancelled because of the same very obnoxious and dangerous behaviors that were displayed last Sunday, I think the NYCMTA and the museum should just have a final farewell excursion sometime this Spring staying out...

It's great that both the NYCMTA and the museum decided to continue the rest of the runs. However, the behaviors that were displayed last Sunday will not be tolerated. Those fans who chose to tamper with devices and steal things off the train are part of the reason why personnel are very reluctant to...

Re: Infrastructure bill, what's the plan for New Jersey

I'm not saying that all stops west(railroad east) of Long Branch should be skipped. They need to be serviced. It's just that when I mentioned the through trains to Bay Head making all stops to Long Branch and then running mainly express to EWR or NWK, I mentioned there would be hourly local service ...

Yesterday’s behavior among some of the people on the train was just downright retarded. Tampering with the roll signs is a no no. If you want to get those, then consult the transit agency gift shop. Pedos touching kids-not a very smart move and people like that need very serious help. Fortunately I ...

Great news mentioned that is planned! All of the components to the Gateway Project are obviously very important. Hopefully this will not only enable double the peak hour NJT rail capacity into and out of NYP. This will also help NJT seriously think about adding off peak and weekend express trains to...

Those are not very good numbers of what's on the current roster. It sounds like NJT a couple of years ago. Once the 3rd track project and Eastside Access is completed, I really hope that there is enough equipment available to cover the extra trains.

Shell Int or (CP216) Flyover-not happening-the reason is that I-95 runs right alongside the New Haven Line south of New Rochelle. Building a flyover would involve having to build a structure over some of the highway lanes that would hold the rails. Not only would the construction affect highway traf...

It’s possible that Track 1 may be used for outbounds especially if let’s say there is a parked MNR train on Track 3 at NRO. Absolutely-there is no question that that island platform at NRO is always busy. MNR northbound trains serve that platform at least twice an hour many times each day. Amtrak tr...

Would be nice to have a flyover at CP216 but because I-95 probably runs so closely alongside the right of way south of NRO, there is no room to build the flyover. Today, southbound Amtrak trains often run for miles on Track 2 which provides access to the center island platform at NRO-this eliminates...
