I understand you are frustrated at an unforeseen wire problem that caused issues, but what on earth does where a manager parks have to do with the overhead wires failing, and whether a manager pays a dollar a day to park isn't going to hold the wire up, also you do understand there are hundreds of m...

PTC does not need ATC in order to work, they are two standalone systems

You do know the Cynwyd train do need to use a short portion of Amtrak territory right? It may have been switches at 36th st, 38st, 44th or Valley, the probable scenario is the switch failed in a position not affecting Harrisburg line trains, no maintainer available so Amtrak requested cynwyds be hel...

The chord from the horn depends on a few things, first up is how the horn was cast, is the airflow restricted (many RRs now use a restricter in the air inlet), are the diaphragms in good condition and also the size of the bore affects it. Many K5LAs sound different for these very reasons and hence y...

The purpose of a strike is to disrupt and cause inconvenience, it forces both sides back to the table and to work to find an agreement that satisfies both sides, people who complain it's a disruption really need to understand that's is the point, how else will one side (septa in this case) ever have...

If the system hadn't come back online when It was rebooted they would have gone to the old way of moving trains, by paperwork, it would have been slow but trains would have moved.

Amazing that this made the news outlets, the system crashed, trains were told to wait, the safest action was taken and it is perceived as a bad thing? At least that's how it reads, btw there was no mention of the Amtrak signal problems the following day that delayed some trains up to 60 minutes!!!

How does it work for a passenger traveling on a non Amtrak service but getting off at an Amtrak station? Also if you are seen with a device and intend on boarding say a NJT, Septa, Marc service will they refuse you access if at an Amtrak station (think NY penn, Penn Newark, 30th St, Baltimore)

Your so right that what you saw has nothing to do with the "current problem", the engineers cab is basically a few false walls installed inside the shell of the car, the car didn't warp to create the gaps, the shoddy internal build quality is what caused it, it shouldn't happen but with ev...

Ptc can and does enforce under 15mph, it does not enforce a positive stop before a bumper, Jim why would you put a signal on a bumper and please tell me where this is actually in place, I'm not disputing what you say but I have never seen or heard of that, if you violate the end of the track you don...

Just to clarify Ptc would not prevent this type of accident, it is an overlay to the existing signaling system and designed to enforce Maximum Authorised Speed (MAS) and also prevent signal violations, it would have kept the speed to the timetabled speed in the terminal but would not stop the train ...

What are you on about, the Doylestown line hasn't had any stations cut, unless you are referring to stations that were removed when Septa took over from conrail, if that's the case then we were indeed on separate pages, my reference to added stations was that the Doylestown line was given two more s...
