I turn that train set a couple of times a week and I'm normally out there when the red carpet is rolled out and they start the boarding process. Gentleman are normally in a suit and and tie or dress shirt and sport jacket I have seen jeans. Most women are in dresses some with hats some not. As for s...

Amtrak will be adding cab cars to all the NEC regional day trains. The reason is to have faster turnarounds so they can run more trains using the same number of rolling stock. Adding a requirement to turn all the seats significantly slows the turnaround. You'll be defeating the reason for adding th...

Glad to see they are coming back again this fall. Great staff travel with these cars, they have been refurbishing the interior of the Hickory Creek to its NYCRR grandeur. If you can afford it and can get a reservation a highly recommended trip. Wonder if it is the same chef this spring/summer, I wil...

I don't know how many exist as NPCUs but sounds like Amtrak is going to be using them on Keystone Service sooner or later. They are no good out of Penn station going to Boston or Albany as they do not have the necessary Metro North PTC equipment.

Mr. Wolf, ask me and I'll say FIXED SEATING SUCKS!!! But it's life. Simple as that; I like to ride forward and get headaches if backward. But better get used to it for it's here to stay. It has been "The Standard" in Europe as long as they have had railroads. On that point, I recall a rid...

Just drove past South Street in Rensselaer, just south of the station and saw a train stopped with a bunch of police cars and an ambulance. I'm guessing a trespasser got clipped, but I hope everyone's ok. Sent from my SM-G981U1 using Tapatalk Trespasser train intercourse, how the heck you manage to...

Along with the fact the F40 is a 2 stroke vs a 4 stroke for the P42. Think gas guzzling 8 cylinder vs a sipping 4. You crack the throttle on a 40 its right there on a 42 it has to think about it.

I believe that an 8 car Amfleet train only needed a 600 kW loco load that were on most P=42s. During the Gunn admin the grand experiment of running the LSL with a single P42 and 10 to 12 cars was done. While a single 42 could handle such a train it was the acceleration out of station stops and spee...

They need to lower that threshold in light of this accident back in 2018 . From the photos I could see from your link, it appears the tractor was hit at a non signal and cross arm crossing. I leave the possibility that was where the train came to a stop after hitting the tractor. Never-the-less, th...
