Were Clockers subsidized by State of New Jersey or costs reimbursed at least, given NJT weekly/monthly passes were honored and most ridership was NJT commuters? Service was not 403b. From the Clocker Wiki page. I well remember taking an afternoon Clocker from Newark to 30th Street in the early 2000...

Speaking of the West Side of the Newark Branch (a/k/a Newark Industrial Track), public commenting is closing soon on the Downtown Newark to Downtown Paterson Light Rail Proposal. The are 3 potential plans, all involve the Newark Industrial Track, two are for Light Rail, and 1 is for Bus Rapid Transi...

I can understand the Aldene Plan that permitted CNJ to close the entire Jersey City operation. But looking at satellite images of the huge Elizabeth yard with all the traffic it seems to have, I wonder why the route from Aldene to Elizabeth wasn't kept as a direct route for freight. Maybe getting f...

As we discuss the future of the West Side of the Newark Branch in it's entirety, I wanted to share a video that an urban explorer took of the Lower Boonton Line in 2019. Why I am posting this here, you ask ? Simple, as he was approaching what was the North Newark station site, he had to detour since...

Here is a picture of the old stair case on Broadway that lead to the North Newark Station. Not only has the trucking company taken over the ROW in this area, they also use the station site as well. I can only assume that this use of the ROW is done on agreement with Norfolk Southern. https://i.imgur...

Here is the walking tour that was posted a few years back on the lower Boonton Line. Not only have the bridges (big and small) deteriorated, so has the entire ROW, in North Newark, just to west of the North Newark Station site, a trucking company has taken over the ROW. To answer the question about ...

Interesting stories about this proposed Bike Trail. First the pictures keep showing the long OOS, DB Swing Bridge that has a very low vertical clearance. As mentioned in an earlier post, the trail is not supposed to use that bridge. In face t it the trail was to use DB that would make a very expensi...

No surprise that was done, although the NY & A has "freight rights" as far east as Southold, they cut freight service back to Riverhead about 11 years ago. The only time I recall the Southold siding being used for LIRR trains was 9 years ago during the Tall Ships at Greenport event whe...
