by BobLI ¦  Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:45 pm ¦  Forum: New York State Railfan ¦  Topic: CP ballast cleaning Mechanicville ¦  Replies: 2 ¦  Views: 736

I was in Mechanicville today and noticed the ballast looked good and piles of dirt along the right of way. It looks like the spoil of a ballast cleaner. Did they do that when they did a lot of tie renewal on the line?

Is the body held in place by the coupler screws or are there tabs under the trucks? I saw one article where the screws held the body and another that says there are hidden tabs.

Any idea when the RR will reopen? And how is the political climate of the county regarding the RR? I know you had a lot of previous trouble with the county.

Why did the MTA go with a different vendor for the next order of bi-levels? Didn’t it make more sense to be comparable with the existing c1 cars and add to that fleet?

I cannot remember the model number and a google search can’t find it. Any help appreciated to find the...

I was in Victory the other day and saw the abandoned cotton mill and I read that the Saratoga and Schuylerville RR ran through the town. Was there a siding to the mill and where did the RR run through town? I didn’t see any signs of the ROW.

Ballast on homasote

Can ballast be applied on homasote using alcohol and then diluted glue? I’m worried being homasote is a paper product and will absorb glue/water combos.

When the Railroads had to remove the footboards were they attached by bolts or did they have to torch them off?

I saw your track speeders while I was passing through Lyndonville on Sunday morning. Looks like a lot of fun but how expensive is it to get into that hobby?
