Recently, while driving through Chalfont, on 202 east of 152, I saw what appeared to be a tank car spotted on the north side of the R5 ROW, but I couldn't be sure. I know there is a fuel tank farm back there - anyone know if it is actually rail-served? While we're at it, what about the large facility past the Link Belt stop toward Doylestown and the 84 Lumber in New Britain? Both of these still have their sidings connected, as far as I can tell.

You ask on this forum yet...? SEPTA doesn't run freight trains IIRC.

Your eyes did not decieve you. That is the remnants of the Atlantic Central Railroad siding where you saw the tank car.

Ok, aem, tell us about Atlantic Central. . .

I never realized that freight travelled above Lansdale on SEPTA territory. I know that freight continues above Lansdale on its own tracks.

Back in the '70s, there was a sign on a pole at the siding with "Atlantic Central Railroad" written on it. I believe they repaired / scrapped old freight cars or tankers. It was only a siding capable of holding several cars. Don't have any recent info on it.
