Good evening, Group:

For some time now, I have been looking for information on the train consist used by Franklin D. Roosevelt on his historic train trip from Washington DC to Birch Island, Canada in 1943. The nine car train left Washington DC on July 30th and returned from Birch Island on August 8th, 1943.

The information I have so far pertaining to the consist is as follows:

1 Private Car ("Ferdinand Magellan")

1 Eight-Compartment Car ("Conneaut" used by the secret service)

1 Diner

2 Sleepers

1 Ten-Section Lounge Car

1 Coach

1 Dynamo (radio) Car (Baltimore and Ohio "1401" Comination/Communications Car)

1 Baggage Car

FDR's special train ran over Baltimore and Ohio, NYC, Pensylvania, Toronto Hamilton and Buffalo and CPR tracks.

I would like to find out who owned the remaining six cars in the consist and what the car names or numbers were of each car.
Any help you could give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Keith Hopkin
