What is the current progress of the high speed rail lobby in Illinois? I would like to see fast and frequent rail service all over the state, and the region.

Nothing new. The latest web pages describing the issue date back to early 2003.

I remember reading that 110 mph service would begin between Chicago and Springfield by fall of 2004. I wouldn't put money on it, but maybe Amtrak will actually meet a deadline for a change! :P

Would be a great idea for the High Speed Rail initiative to be in place now, and to have connected all of the aiports in the area, to take the load off of the Airports in Chicago. Intermodalism at it's best.
