Hi Folks, Many here have helped with the LIRR Ticket page evolution: http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/Tickets/tickets.htm However, I/we have not a word about Ticket Fare history. Thus far I have:
Wikipedia claiming that in 1930 it was $10.57 for a monthly ticket (from Mineola to Penn). Perhaps, a good start point using an inflation calculator as follows: 1900 = $5.00 monthly and $16.20 in 2033
and: 65 cents one way to NY from Amityville during the WW II (reliable source)
via usinflationcalculator.com 65¢ in 1944 is worth 95¢ today
Can folks provide insight/input, photos, etc. from the earliest days to the current LIRR fare rates/structure? Thank you all.
