Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society received a grant to acquire, transport, and stabilize 3 F units and 4 freight cars with regional history from the defunct Indiana Transportation Museum.

Brief, fair use quote:
The equipment had been left behind and was in deteriorating condition at former locations of the Indiana Transportation Museum in Noblesville and Logansport. With support from the Parks and Recreation Department in Noblesville and the City of Logansport, the historical society, volunteers, and contractors undertook a major effort to dismantle locomotives for shipping and to prepare the other equipment for movement by truck. Noblesville tourist railroad Nickel Plate Express, short line company U.S. Rail, and the Hoosier Heartland Trolley Co. also provided assistance.

It's a sad story.... ITM had some degree of commitment to relaunch up in Logansport, but that deal apparently fell thru as well. Note to museums... OWN your land and don't rely on the goodness of others.

The bulk of the operable 1937 Budd ATSF coaches aren't currently in either location -- they were moved to Santa Clause, IN in the panic to get things out before the deadline, but not sure if they're still there or not.

Budd passenger cars: Railfan
Fort Wayne Raising Money for ‘Great Steel Fleet’ Rehab

A set of seven stainless steel Budd passenger cars that helped introduce the stainless steel streamliner era on New York Central’s New York–Cleveland Empire State Express are now in Indiana with the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and will eventually add hundreds of seats of capacity to the group’s excursion trains. Though handled with care during nearly four decades of operation with the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum, the cars need a variety of upgrades and repairs and thanks to a $50,000 matching grant, any donation of $250 or more made during December will be doubled. The group has set a goal of putting at least one of the cars in service in 2024.
