OT-2 spotted several empty center beams at Enfield this week. Pan Am is working to raise the grade of the former Enfield siding to match the main line (12-15 inch difference in elevation). The mow crew has also been building a new east switch, rather than just installing a switch panel. But for now the current track arrangement will work.

CPF, do you know how much track and or how many sidings Pleasant River built onto their property? Thanks.

They had relaid about 500-800 feet of the former passing siding, as well as building a spur into the log yard (I would estimate about 15 cars long). I wouldn't be surprised to see it extended if the need arises. They also removed the switch to the Howland Branch which was what served the mill originally. AFAIK most of that track is still in place, but would need a major rehab/brush trimming operation done to return it to service.

Do both sides of NMWA/WANM run daily or is it like the Rumford job where it's up one day then back the next? Thanks.

That worked, thanks. I’m not sure if it’s the angle the picture was taken from but the grade of the siding looks awkward, almost like a hump.

The photo is tilted. That is a heck of a hump.

Without being familiar with the property, they likely graded it like that on purpose for ease of loading and it isn't a hump but a crest and then a flat pad on top. Not a big deal...

Assuming that they would indeed want to load on a flat surface, then it would appear that the main is on a decent grade at that location. Definitely some weird geometry.

Mebbe to save a derail?
