I wouldn't say that SafeTrack was supposed to fix these things - they corrected about a dozen of the worst problem areas, but many other problem areas remained at the end of it all.

I don't know why they seem to have a sudden rash of these things. They are blaming water infiltration, and in certain parts of the system I might believe that. But some of the incidents are in other parts of the system where I didn't think they had such problems. I vaguely recall @dcmetrosucks saying that there were a batch of bad insulators that got installed throughout the system, but I can't find that tweet right now.

You might be having slip/slide issues due to the season,it is Fall now,and plenty of leavrs can stick to the running rails and 3rd rail when wet. :wink:

SafeTrack didn't really address any underground sections of track, which is where arcing generally causes problems.
