Metro reports a sharp rise in arcing incidents.

I wouldn't say that SafeTrack was supposed to fix these things - they corrected about a dozen of the worst problem areas, but many other problem areas remained at the end of it all.

I don't know why they seem to have a sudden rash of these things. They are blaming water infiltration, and in certain parts of the system I might believe that. But some of the incidents are in other parts of the system where I didn't think they had such problems. I vaguely recall @dcmetrosucks saying that there were a batch of bad insulators that got installed throughout the system, but I can't find that tweet right now.

You might be having slip/slide issues due to the season,it is Fall now,and plenty of leavrs can stick to the running rails and 3rd rail when wet.

SafeTrack didn't really address any underground sections of track, which is where arcing generally causes problems.
