Has 4020 been officially retired? Has not run since the crossing accident at Garfield 6/21/2013

Occasionally gets dragged into the shop when a part is needed to be stripped off. With Alstom out of the locomotive business, there's no one left who knows how to make a new nose.

So the PL's are one fender bender away from permanent retirement? Alstom is still in business and given that they are making the new Acelas it is hard to believe that they are unwilling to make a new nose. My guess is that NJT is not willing to pay for it. Given the lack of money at NJT someone likely decided that NJT could live without one of those engines.

I was told today that 4020 will be the first PL to be sent out for overhaul.Don't know when, or where.
