I performed my usual checks on Friday afternoon between rt. 539 in Whiting and Union Avenue in Lakehurst and have not seen anything new.

If he didn't pay the contractors on the CMSL work, where did the money go from the grant that was supposed to go to them?

But seriously, I would love to run tourist trains from Lakehurst to Whiting and Return.

You and me both. A certain member who has since past had dreamed up a lot of things with me about the southern div and local freight service on the NJCL. Unfortunately those dreams are all they will ever be in my mind at this point.

was on rt 539 today and there is a couple piles of stone at the crossing, work to connect the tracks maybe starting?

since we bought a new home off of rt72 , ive been traveling down rt 539 every few days. these are new piles of stone just dumped there in the last few days. they are very close to the tracks.

This thread is beguiling. I'm beginning to think the railroad gods are doing this on purpose to throw everyone off. Occasionally do a little work, then let it sit a few months. WHack the weeds, then go away. Send down some MOW equipment, throw some ballast on the side. Go away a few months. Just to keep everyone guessing.


(Yes, I'm kidding... but really this thread is like watching a drop of water at the end of an icicle that is just THAT CLOSE to coming off but....)
