Zanesville, Ohio seems to have been somewhat of a branchline railroad center. What was the big attraction? What industries? It was served by the Baltimore & Ohio, New York Central, Pennsylvania and Wheeling and Lake Erie (later NKP) into the 1950s or later. All the lines were branches except the B & O. Earlier Zanesville was also served by the PRR's Ohio River & Western narrow-gauge operation which extended from Bellaire, Ohio (opposite Wheeling, WVA). It was also at the end of a continous interurban route encompassing several companies running from Terre Haute, Ind (almost at the Illinois line) through Indianapolis, Dayton and Columbus.
